Collection: YONEX ASTROX

The Astrox range is for attackers. If what you prefer in badminton is smashing and finishing points, this is where it's at.

The Astrox DNA

Astrox rackets are head-heavy: your smashes and clears are heavier and have a steeper angle. Yonex distributes the weight between the head, the shaft, and the joint so that you can chain shots together without losing too much speed. On the other hand, they are a little less fast in defense than a Nanoflare, and the high-end models are rather stiff, and therefore demanding.

Which model should you choose?

  • Astrox 100: the most extreme. Very stiff, ultra-thin shaft, for expert attackers. The Tour VA and Game VA versions are more accessible.
  • Astrox 99: the racket for big smashers, in singles as well as in doubles from the back of the court.
  • Astrox 88D / 88S: the doubles duo. The 88D for the back-court player who smashes, the 88S for the front-court player who intercepts.
  • Astrox 77: the easiest in the range. Head-heavy but medium-stiff, it provides power without effort. My personal favorite for many club players.
  • Astrox 22 LT, Nextage: lightweight and versatile Astrox rackets for easy attacking.

Pro or Tour: what changes on an Astrox

An Astrox Pro provides more "snap" on the smash and more precise feel, but it requires a full swing and arm strength. The Tour is a bit more flexible: it is more forgiving when you hit late, which is noticeable at the end of a match. For most club players, the Tour is the smart choice.

Prices in the Astrox range

To give you an idea, for the Astrox 77 you go from about €60 in Play to about €135 in Tour and €180 in Pro. For the Astrox 99, expect about €80 in Play, €190 in Tour, and €240 in Pro. The Play is flexible and easy, the Game a bit more energetic, the Tour and Pro are competition rackets. The higher you go in the range, the higher the quality of the graphite and the more precise and stiff the racket, but also the more demanding it becomes.

All our rackets are strung at the 100%BAD workshop with the string and tension of your choice. You can also choose your overgrip and have your name inscribed on the shaft. Still have doubts? Write to me on Instagram or watch my YouTube videos: I answer everyone.
