Astrox 88D Pro: Geoffrey's review
In doubles, there is the player who sets up at the net and the one who finishes from the back of the court. The Astrox 88D Pro is the racquet for the finisher. The "D" stands for Dynamic: it is made for the backcourt player who strings smashes together.
What you will feel
It is stiff and head-heavy, with plenty of weight behind your shots: your smashes are heavy, your clears travel across the court, and you can repeat attacks without losing power. It is a demanding racquet that requires good timing and a strong arm.
For whom?
Expert players and doubles competitors who play primarily from the back of the court. It comes in 3U (88g): heavier, meaning even more power and stability at impact, for an intense and offensive game. It is clearly a racquet that must be earned.
88D or 88S?
Are you more of a backcourt smasher? Go for the 88D. Are you more of a frontcourt player, playing fast at the net? Go for the 88S. And many pairs play with both.
My advice
11.5 to 12.5 kg with BG80 for a crisp sound and a punchy strike.
You choose your string, your tension, the color of your overgrip, and even your name on the shaft directly above: I will prepare it in the workshop, and it will be sent out ready to play.
