In short
- Arcsaber 7: medium-stiff shaft, very forgiving, easy power. The right choice if you want a racket that overlooks your mistakes.
- Arcsaber 11: stiff shaft, more precise and more powerful when your technique is clean. It requires good technique.
- Pro or Tour? In testing, the difference in feel is minimal: the real question is 7 or 11.
The Arcsaber 7 and Arcsaber 11 are the two most popular rackets in the Yonex Arcsaber range, the series dedicated to control. They look very similar on paper: same even balance, same philosophy, similar prices... So, which one should you choose?
To answer that, I tested them on the court with my buddy Matthieu, in both Pro and Tour versions: flat play, clears, smashes, and net play. Here is the full video, and below is everything you need to know.
The specifications side-by-side
| Model | Stiffness | Balance | Weight |
|---|---|---|---|
| Arcsaber 11 Pro | Stiff | Even | 3U (88 g) or 4U (83 g) |
| Arcsaber 11 Tour | Stiff | Even | 4U (83 g) |
| Arcsaber 11 Play | Medium-stiff | Even | 4U (83 g) |
| Arcsaber 7 Pro | Medium-stiff | Even | 4U (83 g) |
| Arcsaber 7 Tour | Medium-stiff | Even | 4U (83 g) |
| Arcsaber 7 Play | Flexible | Even | 4U |
The big difference is here: the shaft stiffness. They all have an even balance, so they are just as comfortable in defense as in attack. But the 11 is stiff and the 7 is medium-stiff, which completely changes the feel.
Field test
Flat play: control and maneuverability
In fast flat exchanges, both rackets are very maneuverable thanks to their even balance. The Arcsaber 7 is a bit easier to handle over time: it forgives you when you are late on the shuttle. The Arcsaber 11 requires you to be well-positioned, but when you are, the shuttle goes exactly where you want it.
Clears and smashes: power
This is where you feel the difference the most. With the Arcsaber 7, the shaft bends and creates a spring effect: your clears reach the back of the court without effort. With the Arcsaber 11, you need a clean stroke, but when you hit it well, it is clearly more powerful and more enjoyable to play with: the shuttle flies faster and straighter.
Net play: precision
Both are very good at the net; that's the DNA of the Arcsaber range: the shuttle "stays" for a fraction of a second in the stringbed. The Arcsaber 11, being stiffer, provides a bit more precision on drops and net kills, provided you have the touch for it.
Pro or Tour: is it worth the price difference?
This is the question I get asked the most. After testing both versions of each model, honestly: there is no major difference between the Pro and the Tour in terms of feel, maneuverability, control, or even power.
- The Pro uses higher-end graphite: a little more responsiveness for highly technical players.
- The Tour is a hair more forgiving if you don't hit perfectly in the center, for a sweeter price.
For most club players, the Tour is an excellent compromise. Choose the Pro if you have a very high level, or if you want the Arcsaber 11 in 3U for more stability and power.
And the Play versions? They are not part of the video test. These are the most affordable versions, designed for beginners: the Arcsaber 7 Play is flexible, and the Arcsaber 11 Play is medium-stiff. Perfect for getting started with a real Yonex racket.
So, Arcsaber 7 or Arcsaber 11?
Choose the Arcsaber 7 if…
- you are looking for an easy-to-play racket that forgives off-center hits;
- you want effortless power to reach the back of the court easily;
- you are a motivated beginner, a casual player, or a club player who wants to improve;
- you want a racket that is comfortable for your arm during long sessions.
Choose the Arcsaber 11 if…
- you have good technique and control your shots well;
- you want a precise racket that places the shuttle to the centimeter;
- you want to maximize the power of your shots when you strike correctly;
- you play competitively, both in singles and doubles.
In summary: the 7 forgives, the 11 rewards.

On each racket page, you can choose your string, tension, overgrip, and even your name on the shaft: I prepare it in the workshop and it ships ready to play. To compare with other Yonex ranges (Astrox, Nanoflare), my racket selection guide explains everything, and you can find all my test videos on the test page.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Arcsaber 11 too difficult for a club player?
Not necessarily. If you play regularly and your technique is clean, it will help you improve your precision. If you often have off-center hits or lack power at the back of the court, the Arcsaber 7 will be more enjoyable.
What tension for an Arcsaber?
For the Arcsaber 7, between 10 and 11 kg depending on your level. For the Arcsaber 11, between 10.5 and 12 kg if you are used to high tensions. My tension guide helps you find yours.
3U or 4U for the Arcsaber 11 Pro?
The 3U (88g) is heavier: more power and stability, but more demanding throughout a match. The 4U (83g) is more maneuverable and easier to play with for longer periods. In doubles, 4U is often the best choice.
Is the Arcsaber good for doubles?
Yes. With their even balance, the Arcsaber 7 and Arcsaber 11 are comfortable in both defense and attack, and their net precision is a real asset in doubles.
